27/03/04 - Radical Sportscars order new in-car video systems

Radical Sportscars have just taken delivery of two new Drivedata onboard video systems for use on their works SR3 and SR4 sportscars this season.
The systems use the Drivedata SSR-1 solid state recorder, dispensing with the bulky tape-based video recorders they were using previously. The SSR-1 allows passenger rides to be recorded for the first time, as the existing system had to be mounted on the passenger seat.
The SSR-1 is so small that it can be tucked away in one of several locations inside the car. Being immune to vibration and high g-forces, solid state recording is perfect for use in a bike-engined car such as the Radical.
The Drivedata system is perfect for giving drivers and teams feedback immediately after a test session or race. The compact flash card is removed from the recorder when the car returns to the pits and the MPEG-2 file can be played back immediately, in full screen mode on a laptop or PC without the need to rewind a tape or carry out a time-consuming conversion.
You can view a clip recorded on the new system by visiting our videos page.
