Drivedata Launches New Digital Video / Audio Transmission System

Drivedata, the UK’s leading independent designer and manufacturer of professional video and data recording systems, which supplies a number of leading F1, WTCC and GT teams, has launched a new Digital Video / Audio Transmission System – the LL4.

Using the latest digital COFDM modulation techniques and diversity reception, the LL4 delivers high quality, low latency video images in conditions where traditional analogue FM methods fail. The use of ultra low bandwidth ensures increases receiver sensitivity when compared with conventional analogue techniques.

The LL4 is suitable for a wide range of applications including video assist, TV broadcast, onboard sports coverage and security. It can be used in body worn, mobile and temporary fixed installations. Its low current consumption allows for efficient battery operation.

John Chambers, Managing Director of Drivedata comments,

“Drivedata pioneered the use of state-of-the-art COFDM digital transmission systems in mobile environments. The UK's first live broadcast from a racing car using this technology took place during a British Touring Car race in 2003 using a system supplied and installed by Drivedata. We have a continuing programme of R&D activity and our LL4 system is an exceptionally stable wireless video transmission system.”

Various power outputs and frequencies are available catering for longer transmission ranges. LED indicators and a signal level meter provide the user with a clear view of DC power and receiver tuning lock status. Several channels are available within most bands, allowing multiple transmitters to be used with one or more receivers. Channels are programmed using a replaceable card in each transmitter/receiver or using an optional remote control. The system is available for purchase or rental, direct from Drivedata.
