Drivedata Excels in Endurance Test with Yet Another First

Drivedata, the UK’s leading independent designer and manufacturer of professional video and data recording systems, which supplies a number of leading F1, WTCC and GT teams, took centre stage at last weekend’s Britcar 24hr Race at Silverstone.

Drivedata was the first company to webcast live onboard pictures from two cars in the race and a number of other teams were also using Drivedata systems, including 2 Class winners.

Simon Mason, Team Consultant at TJH Motorsport commented –

“This was the first time we had used Drivedata’s live transmission product and it’s a superb piece of kit, both from a coaching perspective and from a performance point of view. We were able to make adjustments to driver technique as the race progressed rather than analysing it after the event, which in turn helped us to maintain the success of previous years.”

James Thorpe, competing in a BMW 130i added -

“The expertise and technical advice that I received from Drivedata was invaluable. Having video footage relayed in real time into the pit garage made our weekend both from a driver technique point of view and for pure entertainment for our sponsors.”

The Drivedata LL4 system transmits perfectly high quality, video and audio over several kilometres and even around buildings and other obstacles. This is impossible with conventional analogue video transmitters, which suffer from picture break up and interference unless the receiver can ‘see’ the transmitter directly.

John Chambers, Drivedata’s Managing Director commented,

“Drivedata pioneered the use of state of the art digital transmission systems technology in mobile environments. The UK's first live broadcast from a racing car using this technology took place during a British Touring Car race in 2003 using a system supplied and installed by Drivedata, so this is a particular area of expertise for us.”
